Conflicting reports have surfaced today in two California newspapers about the possible interest by the NFL's Oakland Raiders in hiring Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino for their vacant head coaching job.
The Oakland Tribune claims via an anonymous NFL source that Petrino was in Oakland on Tuesday night to interview for the job, while the San Francisco Chronicle reported that the Raiders had contacted Petrino, but that the coach "expressed a desire to remain in the college ranks at least for one more season."
Petrino might be a good match for the Oakland job, given his skill in developing high-powered offensive attacks and the Raiders' longtime predilection for that style of play.
