Louisville - Rutgers Basketball Game Watch (DFW)

The stretch drive for the Big East championship has begun, and the Louisville Cardinals are climbing back up the standings after hitting a rough patch in January. Next up, a home contest this Saturday against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

We invite all local alumni and fans to join the UofL DFW Alumni Club at the first of several Game Watches to be held this month.

Game time is 3:00 PM Central Time and the venue - as always - is Buffalo Wild Wings at 3320 E. Hebron Parkway, Suite 100 in Carrollton, Texas (map).

University of Louisville - University of Kentucky Basketball Game Watch (DFW)

It's time again for the annual grudge match between the Louisville Cardinals and the Kentucky Wildcats, and the UofL DFW Alumni Club wants you to join us to watch the 2011 edition of Kentucky's greatest sports rivalry.

On New Year's Eve morning in Lexington's Rupp Arena, the Cardinals will attempt to rebound from their first loss of the season against the once-beaten Wildcats to establish state supremacy in basketball.

We invite all local alumni and fans to join the UofL DFW Alumni Club in supporting the Cardinals in what will no doubt be a difficult task. 

Game time is 11:00 AM Central Time and the venue - as always - is Buffalo Wild Wings at 3320 E. Hebron Parkway, Suite 100 in Carrollton, Texas (map).

A Mortal Blow to the Big East?

UofL Cardinal alumni, along with fans of most of the other Big East schools, were shocked this weekend by the news that conference stalwarts Syracuse and Pittsburgh had applied for entry into the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) - and were rapidly accepted early on Sunday morning.

Later in the day came rumors that Connecticut and Rutgers were interested in joining the Orangemen and Panthers in the move to the ACC.

What happens to the Big East now? Will there even be a Big East in five years? Whither Louisville in all of this?

And what do you suppose that TCU - scheduled to join the Big East in 2012 - is thinking about all of this?

Denny Comes Back To Dallas

 
The University of Louisville Dallas-Ft. Worth Alumni Club played host to Hall of Fame Coach Denny Crum on Wednesday March 31, 2011 for a 25th anniversary celebration of UofL's 1986 NCAA Championship basketball win over Duke in Dallas.

This fundraiser for the UofL DFW Alumni Club Scholarship Fund was held at Smoke Restaurant, which is led by 2010 Best Chef of Dallas honoree Tim Byres.

The UofL DFW Alumni Club would like to express our appreciation to Coach Crum for visiting with us to look back on a storied night in the school's athletic history and simultaneously benefit a great cause.

Thanks also to several of the local attendees who shared their excellent pictures of the event.

Game Watch: Louisville vs. Connecticut for the Big East Tournament Championshp

That's two down and one to go for the Louisville Cardinals to become Big East Tournament Champions for the second time in three years.

Last night the Cards fought back from their largest halftime deficit of the season and overcame significant foul problems to post a thrilling 83-77 overtime victory over Notre Dame in the 2011 Big East Tournament's second semifinal game.

At 8:00 PM CST tonight, the Cardinals will attempt to defeat Connecticut for the third time this season to capture the conference championship in Madison Square Garden.

Come Watch the Cardinals in the Big East Tournament Tonight!

It's tournament time!

With regular season play in the Big East now concluded, the overachieving Louisville Cardinals have benefited from their third-place finish with two byes before beginning conference tournament play in Madison Square Garden.

Tonight - March 10 - at approximately 8:00 PM, the Cardinals will play the Marquette Golden Eagles for the right to advance to the Big East Tournament semifinals.

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of UofL's 1986 NCAA Title with Coach Denny Crum

The University of Louisville Dallas-Ft. Worth Alumni Club is hosting Hall of Fame Coach Denny Crum on Wednesday March 31, 2011 for a 25th anniversary celebration of UofL's 1986 NCAA Championship basketball win over Duke in Dallas.

This fundraiser for the UofL DFW Alumni Club Scholarship Fund will be held at 4-star rated Smoke Restaurant, which is led by 2010 Best Chef of Dallas honoree Tim Byres.

Catch up with Coach Crum while viewing an edited replay of the Cardinals' 72-69 victory, which was held at Reunion Arena on the very same date in 1986.

The event begins at 6:00 PM with a cocktail reception. Dinner follows at 6:45 PM.

Join other Dallas-Ft. Worth alumni and friends of the University to look back on a storied night in the school's athletic history and simultaneously benefit a great cause.
